Pricing is the fastest lever a business has to move profit - and one of the least modernised. Most enterprises still run critical pricing decisions through spreadsheets, email approval chains, and tribal knowledge held by one or two people. The cost of that is rarely dramatic. It shows up quietly: quarterly price actions that take weeks of manual duplication, margin leaking through overlapping promotions, sales reps negotiating without knowing the floor, and a pricing process that grinds to a halt the moment one person is unavailable.

That gap is widening fast, because pricing is exactly where AI now earns its keep - detecting margin erosion before it hits the quarter, recommending segment-level corrections from live data, and flagging promotion overlaps no human could catch across thousands of SKUs. Companies still pricing on spreadsheets aren't just slower; they're deciding blind while competitors decide informed.

When companies finally move to a modern, AI-driven pricing platform, the technology turns out to be the easy part. The harder question - the one that determines the outcome - is who implements it. AI pricing is only as good as the data and integration behind it, and that is precisely where these projects are won or lost.

Why pricing implementations need the right partner

Pricing software is rarely a standalone purchase. It sits at the intersection of finance, sales, and operations, and it has to draw clean data from the systems already running the business - ERP, CRM, data warehouses, middleware feeding hundreds of downstream systems. That is exactly where pricing projects stall. The platform configures faster than expected; the integration and the data readiness take longer than anyone planned for.

There are broadly three ways to implement a pricing platform, each with a different risk profile.

  • An in-house build offers full control, but companies routinely underestimate the scope - integration, data migration, and ongoing maintenance land on an IT team that already has a full plate, and the pricing project slips to the bottom of the list.
  • A partner- or vendor-led implementation brings the opposite: dedicated specialists who do this for a living, carry pre-built frameworks, and act as strategic advisors rather than order-takers - so your internal teams keep the business running while experts carry the technical load.

The reason a specialist-led implementation succeeds so consistently is that it combines three kinds of knowledge that rarely live in the same place - deep product mastery, a real understanding of how your systems, data, and teams work, and the industry experience to spot best practices that matter: small fixes that unlock big gains now, and a pricing process designed for the future, not just the present. A good partner runs a disciplined sequence: discovery with pricing, sales, and finance stakeholders; structured requirements gathering; solution design; configuration sprints; data integration; and rigorous testing before go-live. Just as important, a good partner protects business continuity - your internal teams keep the lights on while the specialists carry the technical load.

The difference between a smooth go-live and an eighteen-month slog usually comes down to one thing: whether your partner has genuinely been here before.

Why Pricefx

At Applexus Lavendel, we made a deliberate choice early on to specialise - and to specialise in Pricefx. That was not an accident of availability; it was a judgment about which platform was built for where pricing is going.

Pricefx is a cloud-native, enterprise-grade pricing platform designed for real pricing complexity rather than a bolt-on to a billing or CRM system. It spans the full pricing lifecycle - analytics, price setting, costing, quoting (CPQ), agreements and promotions, rebates, and sales compensation - on a single, configurable foundation, with AI woven through the platform rather than added as an afterthought: machine-learning price optimization, "bring-your-own-science" composable models, and a GenAI assistant (Pricefx Copilot) that lets teams interrogate pricing and sales data in plain language. Because it is genuinely industry-agnostic and integration-friendly, it adapts to the business rather than forcing the business to contort around it. And as an SAP Gold Partner and the only SAP Endorsed App for pricing, Pricefx integrates natively with SAP landscapes in a way no other pricing solution can match. For enterprises wrestling with thousands of price points, customer-specific agreements, and margin pressure that shifts every quarter, that flexibility is the whole game.

Choosing to go deep on one platform rather than shallow on many is what lets us bring real mastery to every engagement. When a partner spreads itself across a dozen tools, the customer inherits the dilution. We made the opposite bet.

Why Applexus Lavendel - what makes us distinctly different

Plenty of firms list Pricefx on a capabilities slide. Very few have our relationship with the platform or our depth in it. Three things genuinely set us apart.

Our roots are in the platform itself. Applexus Lavendel's founding team worked directly alongside Pricefx on real client implementations from the platform's earliest days, well before establishing Applexus Lavendel as an independent firm. That experience gave us something a certification programme cannot - a working knowledge of Pricefx earned on live customer problems, in partnership with the people who built it. That first-hand delivery DNA still runs through how we scope, configure, and troubleshoot today.

We work hand-in-glove with Pricefx. As an Advantage f1 partner and one of the earliest members of the Pricefx ecosystem globally, we maintain a very close working relationship with the Pricefx. That proximity is practical : it means early visibility into platform direction, direct lines into product and delivery teams, and the ability to translate the newest capabilities into client value faster than partners working at arm's length.

We have proven it at scale - repeatedly. With 70+ successful Pricefx projects across some of the hardest pricing environments in the world, our experience runs deep. For one global automotive manufacturer, we replaced a decade-old legacy pricing platform across multiple regions - onboarding nearly 700 users across four Pricefx instances and handling roughly 1.1 billion records during cutover - cutting approval cycle times by an estimated 70–80%. That is the pattern we repeat: taking a pricing problem a business had assumed was simply "how things are" and turning it into a measurable advantage.

There is one more dimension worth naming. As part of Applexus, our Pricefx expertise sits alongside deep enterprise SAP, data, and AI capability under one roof. That matters because most pricing data originates in SAP and several of the engagements above ran in parallel with live SAP landscapes, including an active ECC-to-S/4HANA migration. When the team configuring your pricing engine also understands the system feeding it, the integration gap where pricing projects so often stumble simply closes.

What you should expect from us

Working with Applexus Lavendel should feel less like hiring a vendor and more like gaining a team that has already solved the problem in front of you.

Expect a fit-first approach. Before we configure anything, we work to understand where your business genuinely needs to flex Pricefx and where it should adopt the platform’s proven standards - because every unnecessary customisation is future cost and future risk. Expect us to take data seriously and early, because pricing outcomes are only as good as the data feeding them, and data readiness is where timelines are won or lost. Expect a collaborative model, not a black box: your pricing, sales, finance, and IT stakeholders stay close to the work, and we transfer knowledge as we go so your team owns the solution long after go-live. And expect flexible global delivery - onshore, nearshore, and offshore - calibrated to your budget and timeline without compromising quality.

Most of all, expect outcomes. The point of pricing transformation is not a successful software install; it is faster, more confident pricing decisions, tighter margin control, and a platform that scales as your business does.

Pricing is too important - and too fast-moving - to get wrong on the implementation. If you are evaluating Pricefx, the partner you choose will shape the result as much as the platform itself.
