The mandatory requirement of e-invoicing (B2B transactions) for businesses with a turnover of over Rs. 100 crore will come into effect from January 1, 2021 and with it a rising number of concerns and queries. Under the new GST e-invoicing law, taxpayers have to generate invoices on their ERP/billing software to report it online to the Invoice Registration Portal (IRP).  The IRP will validate the invoices provided and return them digitally signed with a unique 'Invoice Reference Number (IRN)' along with a QR Code. This additional authentication of invoices leads to greater implementation costs, process modifications and a tremendous amount of change management, which become a cause of worry for most organizations.
